"Style" REVIEW:

Style (DayBehaviour Remix)

Style (Sean Barron Remix)

Style (Machine Made Pleasure Remix)

Style (Foretaste Remix)

Style (Nevarakka Remix)

Style (Dust Of Broken Heart Remix)

Style (Eight To Infinity Remix)

Born (Aidan Casserly Original)

Wild Butterflies (Aidan Casserly Original)

Brand New Day is a solo project by Joe Ramey and for this latest single, Style, he’s teamed up with one of my favourite synthpop vocalists, Aidan Casserly from Empire State Human. This review is extremely late as I’ve been very busy personally and professionally, so I’d just like to offer my apologies to Joe right off as this should have gone up weeks ago.

Presented on this single are seven remixes of the track Style by various groups within the synthpop genre, but oddly no original track for comparison. That said, I’m more than happy with the various remixes offered here. Most of the remixes have a very modern feel and cross different synth genres, but the Dust of Broken Heart remix places Style right back in the minimalist early 80’s (sounds a little like it was recorded on a Commodore 64 as well…). My favourites are the DayBehaviour, Machine Made Pleasure and Foretaste remixes, but there isn’t a poor one here.

Also included on this single are to Aidan Casserly original tracks, Born and Wild Butterflies – the former already appears on the recent Figaro album whilst the track Wild Butterflies appears on the ESH compilation Rarity?. Both tracks stray well away from the synth vibe but are great tracks in their own right and the two ballads also showcase Aidan’s distinctive vocal style.

Todd's Opinion:

Brand New Day (Featuring Aidan Casserly) "Style" (MCD) $6 -- This new single from American synthpop act Brand New Day features vocals by Aidan Casserly of Empire State Human, and it's packed with remixes from many of the best mixers in the scene, including DayBehavior, Nevarakka, Foretaste, Machine Made Pleasure, etc. There are a total of seven cool mixes on this single, plus two bonus, exclusive songs by Aidan Casserly to give you even more bang for your buck!

My opinion of STYLE:

First of all this was always one of my favorite songs off of my first BND CD,
"Starting Over". Aidan has a great voice and I always liked his work with Empire State Human, so getting him to do vocals for me, was a great accomplishment in itself.
This single was in the works for a long time, but LIFE, sometimes gets in the way, so its better late than never as for the release date.
The remixers on this single mostly were hand picked by me based on their own work. Which I'm a fan of.
Daybehavior, Machine Made Pleasure, Nevarakka, Eight to Infinity and of course with Foretaste, who remixed for me before with Brand New Day and also before that with EuroVision. Sean Barron is a member of the band, Empire State Human and of course I love their music. Dust of Broken Heart approached me in email back in the days of the Sloth Radio forums, I forgot where he heard of me looking for remixers, maybe in a post I'd made at some point. I wasnt familiar with his bands music, but sent him a remix kit anyways, and his remix was quite different then the others on the single, and different can be good, and in this case, it was good.
The two songs at the end, Born & Wild Butterflies were written by Aidan Casserly and I thought were a good choice to add, since this single features Aidan Casserly on vocals.
And the style of the two final songs provide a nice contrast to all of the dance mixes of the 7 previous versions of "Style".
I think with this single, There are several remixes that could be a good choice for DJ's to play at the club. Its very danceable. I dont dance much, but when this stuff is playing, I do get the urge.
:-)
Of course, I highly recommend it.

Artist: Brand New Day
Title: Style
Label: BND Productions

Joe Ramey is Brand New Day, and his single, “Style, is such a luminous spectrum of the classic sounds of synthpop, electronic and the BEST of the sounds of the ‘80s music, blended with the BEST of today’s synthpop and electronic music. It’s like walking into a pristine dance club of the future…clean, fresh, invigorating---and then flashing back to what made the music of the past so important not to forget, highlighted effortlessly throughout, “Style”. “

“Style”, also features the phenomenal talents of Aidan Casserly (Empire State Human, The Garland Cult and Figaro) who performs two originals. The combination of these two beautiful talents is platinum. Truly a genius combination of mega-gloriousness. I do hope these gentlemen will challenge themselves to create more music together.

“Style”, features 7 tracks of the single, “Style”--- Ultra-shimmer dance remixes which, will have you in a neck brace and carrying out buckets of sweat from all of the crazy-fun dancing had. The first four remixes by DayBehavior, Sean Barron, Machine Made Pleasure and Foretaste are…SENSATIONAL! The last three by Nevarakka, Dust of Broken Heart and Eight to Infinity are Awesomely HOT! And without even to have to question…Aidan’s original songs, “Born”, is a lovely and romantic song…the kind of song you’d want to have as part of the evening’s get close to your lady or fellow with. And then there is “Wild Butterflies”…like kisses from your lover who has been away from you far to long. It’s a teary one…so beautiful. A song, which would be perfect for a couple’s wedding song.

“Style”, is a MUST for DJs…and fans of the musical scene. I LOVE it…thanks SO much Joe (and Aidan) and to ALL of the remix masters for what you do…please continue to thrive in your creativity…your voices, your musical gifts… you’re ALL so needed and SO respected.

Brand New Day’s, “Style”, is stunning…and this kind of music definitely won't go out of style.

Very interesting the recent proposal of Brand New Day, although in the hope of having a definitive vocalista. The Briton Aidan Casserly is the one who has lent his voice for this maxi, “Style” (if he is thus for the rest of the album that still is about to arrive, and arrives next, because he is going to be one first delivery with a letter of superb presentation. Joe Ramey is a teacher of the sintetizadores, samplers, keyboards, etc … and so we have insured synthpop of good quality, and Aidan Casserly is a perfect vocalista; voice with weather (with vibrato or the maintained tone) and of ample scale of registries, as it comes demonstrating in the bands Empire State Human and The Garland Club.

Centering to me in this project of Joe Ramey, Brand New Day, they are not many its works published from 2005 in which its walking began; a first CD published in 2005 in Leg End Productions, “ Starting Over ”, the CD Maxi that I have the taste to comment, “ Style ”, published in 2008 in BND Productions (its own seal), and a second CD, “ Take Cover ”, also published in 2008 in BND Productions. Although, on the other hand, Joe Ramey been has occupied in its project, synthpop also electronic, Euro Vision, along with Michael Allred.

This maxi, “ Style ”, consists of 9 you cut, of which 7 are versions of the song ‘ Style ’; 7 different, synthpop, with more or less electronic, more or less discotequeras or dance versions and entertainments. From this last point of view, this maxi can not only sound in an ample variety of tracks of dance and in sites of dark electronics.
The first version (she is the one that I like more) is the one that faithfully approaches more synthpop sensu stricto. The style in this version can remember to the one of some of the teachers of the sort (crosses myself I the mind To-has, even Depeche Mode).
The other versions touch completely the styles futurepop and electropop.
They are 7 versions of the same song, but totally different, seem 7 different subjects, even of different groups.
Both last cuts do not have anything to do with the previous thing. They are two songs MGP, of a sound next to the jazz, of slow rate and sound that nothing has to do with the electronics. Without a doubt, they are two subjects including in maxi so that Aidan Casserly shines its voice besides the electronics of Joe Ramey.

Finally, I recommend to listen to this maxi since ’ is good ‘ Style presented/displayed from 7 totally different points of view. And we were in the hope of being able to enjoy its next album.

I Cant Speak Spanish!!!

The above review By Mentenebre E-zine was actually reviewed and printed in spanish, I used Babel Fish to translate the review since I cant speak or read spanish..
I thought it would be neat to send out my promos of my single last year to many E-zines, including this one, hoping that even other languages can enjoy my brand of electronic pop, but once i read their review, I wasnt sure if it was a good one or not..heh..Well according to Babel Fish, they gave me a good review.. Thank goodness!!
