"Without You" review:

EuroVision - Without You (I Just Don't Belong) MCD

Without You (Original Version)
Without You (Hajas Remix)
Without You (Horizontal Lied Remix)
October (Instrumental)
Without You (Sequencia Remix)

This is the first single released by Leg End Productions to help promote the debut album from EuroVision, "On Fire". It must just be me, but the original version on the single here sounds better, quality-wise, than the version on the album itself. That might just be me, though. The remixes for the track were all lined up through the Internet, and include several up-and-coming synthpop artists from around the globe, such as Hajas and Sequencia (from Brazil and Argentina, respectively).

Hajas molds the song into a light synthpop vein, with gently ebbing and flowing in and out synths. While it's not a dancefloor packing type remix, it's still a very good (somewhat mellow) take on the song, and quite enjoyable. Horizontal Lied remix the song in a more dancey direction, without completely re-vamping the song. A bit more dramatic and epic, I really like this mix. Sequencia use some really neat old-school drum sounds and synths to accentuate the retro flavor of the song, and when paired with the disco-esque beat of the song, it creates a very neat version of the song. "October", the b-side instrumental, is a smooth, easy-flowing instrumental track that I enjoyed. This is the ideal spot for this song, as it would have seemed somewhat gratuitous on the album, but here on the single it offers a neat contrast to the remixes.

All in all, this is a quality single, and for just $5, well worth the investment!

My opinion of "Without You":

This was the first single off of the 2004 CD "On Fire" and it featured remixes of the single "Without You (I Just Dont Belong)" and one instrumental "October", which was named after my birth month oddly enough. :-)

The artwork for this single was done by Michael Allred, our vocalist, who used an old family photograph of his grandparents when they were younger and very much in love.
